Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, copper, nickel and mercury are distributed throughout the environment as a result of soil erosion, industrial and agricultural processes. The poisoning effects of heavy metals are due to their interference with the biochemistry of the body causing various diseases. Different techniques were adopted for metals removal and water treatment such as membrane separation, coagulation, flocculation, chemical treatment, filtration and adsorption, have been developed. Adsorption is one of the methods that used for heavy metals removal and has advantages over the other methods because of simple design, low cost and no sludge formation

فلزهای سنگین مانند سرب، کادمیوم، مس، نیکل و جیوه در محیط زیست بخاطر فرسایش خاک، فرآیندهای صنعتی و کشاورزی توزیع می شوند. اثرهای سمی فلزهای سنگین بدلیل دخالت آن ها در بیوشیمی باعث بیماری های مختلف در بدن می شود. تکنیک های مختلف برای حذف فلزها و تصفیه آب مانند جداسازی غشاء، انعقاد، انجماد، رفتار شیمیایی، فیلتراسیون و جذب ساخته شده است. جذب یکی از روش های مورد استفاده برای حذف فلزهای سنگین است و بدلیل طراحی ساده، هزینه کم و بدون تشکیل لجن، مزایایی نسبت به سایر روش ها دارد
